Drake becomes the highest-selling solo artist in RIAA history, surpassing even Emimem

Drake has surpassed fellow commercial titan Eminem to become the highest certified singles artist in RIAA history.

On Thursday, December 8, the Recording Industry Association of America awarded 10 more plaques to The 6 God, extending his record-breаking streak to 184 million single sales.

Drake surpasses Eminem with that number; the rapper was first given the honor in March for selling 166 million copies of his singles library.

Two diamond certifications for “Hotline Bling” and “One Dance,” which mark at least 10 million copies sold in the United States, are part of Drizzy’s unprecedented RIAA haul.

With that, he becomes only the third artist in history to achieve five diamond singles or more. The other three songs to accomplish the feat are “God’s Plan,” “SICKO MODE” featuring Travis Scott, and “Life Is Good” featuring Future.

Drake joins Bruno Mars and Post Malone, who each have six and five diamond singles, in exceptional company with his glittering new gear.

The Toronto native is also getting close to breаking the joint records for the highest certified RIAA song, held by Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” and Post Malone and Swae Lee’s “Sunflower,” all of which are 17x-platinum.

Drake’s Scorpion smаsh from 2018, “God’s Plan,” continued to be the best-selling single in his discography as it reached 15x platinum status on Thursday.

Drake and JAY-Z are developing a strong rivalry once again. Thanks to his most recent chart-topping release, Her Loss, the OVO hitmaker tied Hov’s record for the most No. 1s among rappers on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums list last month with 14.

Since his 2010 release of his major label debut album Thank Me Later, Drizzy has been a perfect 14-for-14 on the chart. Jay-Z’s third album, Vol. 2, marked the start of his run. 1998’s Hard Knock Life.
