The Eras Tour saw Taylor Swift crιtιcιze Kanye West’s VMAs interruption

Taylor Swift appeared to mock Kanye West’s 2009 MTV Video Music Awards onstage interruption at her Eras Tour show in Mexico City Sunday night.

Fans disrupted Swift’s “Champagne Problems” performance during the Eras Tour’s Evermore “era” by chanting her name. Social media footage show Swift addressing the crowd, “It’s the finest way to be interrupted—just people yelling your name. I would know the only way to be interrupted.

West ran onto the stage during the 2009 MTV VMAs as Swift accepted Best Video by a Female Artist for “You Belong with Me.” West famously told a stunned Swift, “I’ll let you finish, but Beyoncé has one of the best videos ever! One of the greatest videos!” The interruption sparked memes and a years-long animosity between the musicians.

Swift may have laughed about the scenario before on the Eras Tour, according to fans. The pop artist sang “This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things,” reported to be about West, during a surprise acoustic concert at an earlier July tour stop. Swift sings “And here’s to you / ‘Cause forgiveness is a nice thing to do,'” in the original song before laughing sarcastically and confessing, “I can’t even say it with a straight face.”

That section of the song at the July concert had her laugh so hard she had to take a break before continuing.

The Midnights singer just ended four back-to-back gigs in Mexico City, her first international stop on her mammoth Eras Tour. Swift will release her re-recorded album 1989 (Taylor’s Version) in October before continuing her tour, which will culminate in Toronto in November.
