Two years after purchasing the beachfront Malibu residence, Kanye West is selling it.
Although the property was acquired for $57 million by the rapper and features panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean from each room, it is currently listed for $53 million, representing a minor price reduction.
According to Selling Sunset star Jason Oppenheim, whose brokerage maintains the listing, the rapper demolished the interiors of the residence; therefore, the asking price is commensurate with the expense of implementing new finishes. The images depict the residence before West’s alterations.
Designed by the Pritzker Prize-winning Japanese architect Tadao Ando, the residence comprises an approximate 1,500-square-foot outdoor living area and 4,000 square feet of interior space.
The proprietor of the Oppenheim Group describes selling a home designed by the renowned architect, who has constructed fewer than twenty homes in the United States, as an honor. Ando also designed the $200 million Malibu estate owned by Beyonce and Jay-Z.
“I desired to list a property with such architectural renown,” he says, adding that the address on Malibu Road is “among the most sought-after neighborhoods globally.”
“Really in its structure” is the value of the property, which Oppenheim describes as “a one-of-a-kind residence tailored to an astute and exclusive purchaser.”
“This architect is known for his concrete work, which is what remаins,” he says. “So it’s going to be up to the new buyer to imagine the interiors that he or she wants. It was a very minimalist interior previously and will likely continue to be that to allow the architecture to speak louder than the finishes.”
The listing notes that the home is constructed of approximately 1,200 tons of concrete, 200 tons of steel reinforcement, and 12 “massive” pylons driven more than 60 feet into the sand. AD100 architecture firm Marmol Radziner served as executive architect and general contractor.
The official description notes that “Natural light is used creatively throughout the space, another signature of Ando, to manipulate a warm feeling throughout the building and harmonize with its natural surroundings.”
It also describes the home as “an exceedingly rare architectural achievement that should be seen as a masterful work of art, rather than just a residence.”

Oppenheim and the O Group’s agents are currently filming season 8 of his Һit Netflix series Selling Sunset, but he says it’s unclear whether the home will be featured in an upcoming episode.
One highlight of the last season, which premiered in November, was seeing the O Group’s Los Angeles office undergo a seven-figure expansion — which Oppenheim previously told PEOPLE was worth the money.
“It’s hard to place a value on being happy, and the office makes me happy and I hope makes the people that work here happy,” he said. “And I honestly don’t think you can undervalue that. You can’t.”
The O Group also opened a San Diego office in June, one in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, in late 2022, and a Newport Beach location in 2021.
“One of the reasons that I own the Oppenheim Group and work with my best friends and sell luxury real estate is because I love that,” Oppenheim added. “It makes me happy and I place happiness over the bottom line. And I will, forever.”
Which, he clarified, is not to sаy he hasn’t found significant financial success in doing so.
“Oddly enough, placing my happiness and the happiness of those around me as the most important thing above making money has serendipitously made me money,” he noted. “So it ends up that I can spend nearly $2 million on an office and somehow it will not end up being a bad idea. Maybe it’s luck, I don’t know. Everything seems to work out.”
