Adidas has formulated a specific strategy to reintroduce the sale of Kanye West’s Yeezy footwear after the termination of their collaboration.
adidas CEO Bjorn Gulden disclosed on May 11 that the organization has devised a short-term strategy to salvage what is salvageable through the sale of remaining inventory.
According to Complex, Gulden told investors at the time, “What we are attempting to do now over time is sell portions of this inventory and donate money to the organizations that are assisting us and that were also hurt by Kanye’s statements.”
Adidas’ official website announced the sale of “a portion of the remaining inventory” on Wednesday (May 31), adding that “a portion of the proceeds from the sale of these items will be donated to support the figҺt against discrimination, hatred, racism, and antisemitism.” Existing designs and designs conceived in 2022 for sale in 2023 are included among the products.
The announcement made today does not have an imminent effect on the organization’s present financial оutlооk for 2023.
In a press release, Adidas disclosed that the Philonise & Keeta Floyd Institute for Social Change and the Anti-Defamation League are among the organizations that will benefit. Furthermore, it was stated that further releases of pre-existing inventory are in the process of being deliberated.
Gulden issued the following statement: “We have decided to begin releasing some of the remaining Adidas Yeezy products after careful consideration.” “Priority was given to selling and donating by every organization and stakeholder with whom we spoke.” This is the optimal solution in our opinion, as it ensures the preservation of the designed and manufactured footwear, benefits our employees, addresses an inventory issue, and contributes positively to our communities. Hatred of any kind has no place in society or sports, and we remain committed to combating it.”
Adidas severed commercial ties with Kanye West in October of last year in response to a series of discriminatory comments he made in interviews and on social media. Following the contract termination, the organization issued a statement elucidating the circumstances.
The statement stated, “Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism or any other form of hate speech.” “The recent remarks and conduct of Ye are detrimental, hateful, and unacceptable; they viоlate the organization’s core values of fairness and diversity, reciprocity, and integrity.”
It further stated, “Following a comprehensive evaluation, the organization has resolved to immediately sever the partnership with Ye, cease manufacturing of Yeezy-branded merchandise, and halt all remuneration to Ye and his entities.” The Adidas Yeezy enterprise will cease operations immediately.
Adidas, according to West’s assertion in an interview with the celebrity rumоr publication X17, blocked his bank accounts amidst their intense legal dispute. An astonishing sequence of circumstances transpired in his favor.
A Manhattan federal magistrate ruled in favor of Kanye West and denied Adidas emerge𝚗cy order to re-freeze $75 million held by the Yeezy brand on Tuesday (May 30). Although Adidas suffered a setback, the emerge𝚗cy motion was merely denied by the court on Tuesday; the company may still succeed in the coming days in obtaining a more conventional order that reinstates the asset ban on Yeezy.
