JAY-Z and D’Angelo dropped new song ‘I Want You Forever’ on Friday
On Friday, January 12, Jay-Z and D’Angelo will put out a new song called “I Want You Forever.” It was made for the movie The Book of Clarence with the help of musician and director Jeymes Samuel. According to Samuel, the song is “nine minutes and 32 seconds of absolute soulful, biblical bliss.” The full tracklist and cover art for the Book of Clarence music can be found below.
Samuel wrote and directed the movie The Book of Clarence, which opens this Friday. He and Jay-Z are also producers on the movie. They worked together on The Harder They Fall before.
“Hallelujah Heaven,” from The Book of Clarence, recently got a press release in which Samuel said, “The Book of Clarence is a film that I wаnted to make for many years.” The story and music for The Book of Clarence were always in the back of my mind while I worked on The Harder They Fall and all of my other projects. He went on to sаy, “It was always clear that I would write and perform on the soundtrack, as well as write and direct the movie. It was all one amazing journey where each part depended on the other.” But I also worked on our song “Hallelujah Heaven” with some really great artists. It was so cool to work with Lil Wayne, Buju Banton, and Shabba Ranks. I loved getting them all on the same track.
Since 2019, D’Angelo hasn’t been on a new song that a lot of people can hear. He hasn’t put out a new record since Black Messiah either. The December 2014 album is talked about in “The History of Pitchfork’s Reviews Section in 38 Reviews.”
