Taylor Swift delighted after Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Miami Dolphins 26-7 on Saturday to progress in the NFL Playoffs.
Kelce, 34, had seven catches for 71 yards in the Chiefs’ win.
With minutes left in the game, cameras focused on Swift, who was singing with other Chiefs fans between Donna Kelce and Brittany Mahomes.
With the win, the Chiefs advance to the playoff divisional round next weekend. Kelce and the Kansas City club can reach the Super Bowl by winning next week and the AFC Championship the following week.The Super Bowl is on Sunday, February 11 in Las Vegas.
The Kansas City Star projected the Chiefs’ Super Bowl chances at 70%. After winning in 2020 and 2023, the Chiefs would make their fourth trip to the title game in five years.Kelce led the Chiefs to its eighth straight AFC West division title and ninth postseason appearance while dating Swift, 34.
The “Love Story” singer sat in a luxury box with Kelce’s parents and other teammates’ families at Chiefs games throughout the season.A Kelce family insider told PEOPLE, “Donna likes Taylor and thinks she’s very sweet and down to earth.” Kelce’s mother, who made PEOPLE’s 25 Most Intriguing People of the Year list, told the Wall Street Journal that her son is “happier than I’ve seen him in a long time.”
Kelce had 93 receptions for 984 yards and five touchdowns in the regular season, with Swift cheering him on. Kelce was also the team’s most trusted receiver, with Patrick Mahomes throwing to him 121 times.
Mahomes, 28, said he would send the ball to Kelce enough times in the Chiefs’ season finale to give him an eighth straight season with 1,000 yards or more.Kelce skipped last weekend’s game, informing his brother Jason Kelce on the newest episode of their New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce podcast that he didn’t want to participate to set a 1,000-yard receiving yard record.
“It didn’t feel right in my gut and I didn’t feel like I should play by the numbers,” he added. To avoid hits, I suggest resting and staying off the turf in L.A. until next week. I wanted to prepare for the playoffs.”
Andy Reid, Chiefs head coach, labeled Kelce a “humble, humble guy” who didn’t want to “come across as selfish.”
