On the field, Travis Kelce is displaying genuine emotion.
Following his touchdown on Jan. 21 during the Chiefs-Bills game’s second quarter, the tight end made a heart-shaped gesture with his hands toward Taylor Swift’s suite. Swift was seated with Kelce’s family at the Highmark Stadium suite.
When singing “Fearless” on the Eras Tour, Swift, 34, is known to make a heart with her hands, a gesture that her fans regularly use.
The 34-year-old Kansas City Chiefs star raced the ball to the end zone after catching a pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes, marking their 15th career post-season touchdown pass together.
Swift was seen clapping along with Kelce’s parents, Ed and Donna Kelce, and elder brother Jason Kelce, who pulled off his shirt and called out to his younger brother following the score. Model and actress Cara Delevingne, who is close to the “Love Story” singer, was present at the game on Sunday.
In the third quarter, Travis grabbed another touchdown throw from Mahomes, increasing their combined post-season total to an unprecedented 16 touchdowns. The Chiefs proceeded to triumph, defeating the Bills 27–24, and they will now play the Ravens in the AFC Championship on January 28.
When Travis scores, he usually makes his trademark point-and-arrow motion rather than the heart-hands motion. In an episode of New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce titled “No Dumb Questions,” the tight end clarified that his joyful stance stems from his philosophy to “always dream big” both on and off the field.
In order to motivate himself to “shoot for the stars,” Kelce shared one of his “favorite quotes” from NFL icon and current Colorado football coach Deion Sanders. “There’s a problem with your dreams if they’re not bigger than you,” he said in a recitation.
Since making her debut on September 24 at Arrowhead Stadium with Donna, Swift has been a frequent visitor to Chiefs games as Kansas City defeated the Chicago Bears 41–10.
With Swift present, the Chiefs are presently 8-3.
The pair is still “really happy” together, but “they’re still seeing where it goes,” an insider recently revealed in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE.
“They’re having a great time together,” the insider said of the celebrities, who started dating soon after Kelce disclosed on his New Heights podcast in late July 2023 that he had attempted to have a shot with Swift following her performance.
Although some football fans initially worried that Swift may be a distraction for the tight end, Andy Reid, the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, has continued to encourage Kelce and Swift’s relationship as the team attempts to win the Super Bowl again in 2023.
During a news conference in October 2023 that was broadcast on X (previously known as Twitter), Reid stated, “Kelce is getting better with time.” “Taylor is free to stay here as long as she wants.”
Following the Kansas City Chiefs’ 27-17 victory against the New England Patriots on December 17, 2017, Reid told PEOPLE that he was “glad she was here” and that he is a “big fan” of Swift.
He then on, “I hope she liked it; she’s dating a great guy right now, so I’m happy for them both.”
