On Friday, Guillermo Andrade introduced his signature model 424 to an entourage of friends.
Kanye West, as usual, was present among the guests, and his white mask-covered visage drew attention.
“Something of the utmost importance. Andrade proclaimed to the audience, “The sole GOAT,” placing his palms on West’s shoulders. “The one and only GOAT,” he reiterated. “The singular GOAT.” “One and only.”
Preeminent among all times. That appears to be West’s persona in the eyes of Andrade, who also has admirers. Andrade’s former multibrand store on Fairfax Avenue, FourTwoFour, was a pioneer in streetwear, having introduced Jerry Lorenzo’s Feаr of God and early support for Rhude and Vlone, among others. Andrade has begun a new chapter with the opening of its prestigious Melrose Place location, subsequent to the closure of its Fairfax location two years ago.
“When I shut down the Fairfax location, I believed the retail era had ended,” Andrade told WWD. “At this moment, it is appropriate for me to be in this neighborhood, which I have always desired.”
Basement level, which contains Andrade’s label 424, has a cavernous atmosphere. In 2015, he debuted the collection, which included T-shirts, sweatshirts, and pants. Since then, it has expanded into new product categories and been produced in Italy. It is priced between $115 and $1,480 and tailoring is included.
Andrade stated, “We now collaborate with fabric mills to produce our own fabric from the ground up.” “We formulate and produce our own soaps and treatments.”
Rapper Westside Gunn, actress Sasha Calle, stylist Aleali May, Simi and Haze Khadra of Simihaze Beauty, actor-comedian DeRay Davis, stylist Ian Connor, designer Salehe Bembury, and designer Reese Cooper were among those who attended the celebration.
