Ye (then known as Kanye West) released the first part of his project with rapper Ty Dolla $ign on Wednesday on his Instagram and X. It’s a new song and video featuring North West, the rapper-producer’s oldest daughter.
The beautiful “Talking/Once Again” music video starts with Ye and Kim Kardashian’s 10-year-old daughter lip-syncing to a mash-up sample theme while people who can’t be seen brush and braid her hair. The sample, “You don’t want no problems, you’re just talking,” is played over and over again. Part of it comes from Wilkes Barre Area High School’s cheering squad’s stomp-and-shake routine. The North West starts rapping with a rising rhythm that sounds a bit like her dad’s singing.
The artist’s words don’t show up until the very end of the track. After his daughter’s line, Ty Dolla $ign sings. Ty’s daughter Jailynn Crystal also appears in the video with her dad. As he sings, “Once again the clouds are gathering to release what they held in,” which is the theme of both the song and the movie.
“What should I pay to slow the car down?” They might try to slow down. How much would it take to stop my daughter from growing? “I just can’t take it now,” sings the five-time honoree. West ends the song by singing the chorus again: “Once more the clouds are gathering to let go of what they held in.”
Their first release is the song and video for “Talking/Once Again,” which they made together with Ty Dolla $ign. Vultures, the superduo’s first record, is set to come out on Friday. Ye’s public image took a big Һit when he said racist things that cost him big brand deals, and Kardashian filed for divorce after seven years of marriage. (In a post that has since been removed, he said sorry before the release of his record.)
The D’Innocenzo Brothers directed the video and Matteo Cocco took the pictures. Ye and British singer-producer James Blake worked together to make the song.
