Shaken: Taylor Swift’s concert forced Wales to move the match to Twickenham

In June, Wales will play the world champions, South Africa, at Twickenham as a warm-up for their tour of Australia. Taylor Swift’s June 18 performance at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff been postponed. Foo Fighters will play there the following week.


On June 22, the Springboks will play their first match since winning the World Cup in France. The Barbarians will take on Fiji after the game. The last time Wales played South Africa at Twickenham was in the 2015 World Cup, where the Springboks prevailed 23-19 in a close quarterfinal match.

Following their encounter with the Springboks, Wales will play two Test matches against Australia, first against the Wallabies in Sydney on July 6 and Melbourne on July 7.

Wales would be without those players if a Welsh region made it to the United Rugby Championship final this season, which is set for the same day as the Springboks match.

With the top eight out of 16 teams qualifying for the playoffs, the Ospreys are the highest-placed Welsh region in seventh place. Cardiff, the Scarlets, and the Dragons are even more lost.
