Following her performance with her idol, Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter is in shock!
In a touching post on Saturday, Carpenter, 24, sang Swift, 34,’s praises and said her 9-year-old self wouldn’t believe she got to perform with her.
After severe weather forced the cancellation of Carpenter’s opening act, the two performed a duet at Friday’s Eras Tour event in Sydney.
Carpenter posted a video of the performance to Instagram along with a heartfelt note for her friend. Sabrina, who is nine years old, would never have predicted this s—- coming! Taylor, you have my undying love. I will always have,” she said.
“Thank you Sydney for extending such a warm welcome to me! “See you tonight,” she said prior to her Saturday performance in Sydney as Swift’s opening act.
Carpenter included a screenshot of a social media post she authored at the age of 9 in August 2009 about her attempt to meet Swift, further proving her claim that she has been a longtime fan of Swift in the post.
I tried to enter a Taylor Swift contest in hopes of winning tickets and the opportunity to meet her, but the entry stated that I had to be 13 years old.
The video shows Carpenter and Swift performing a medley of “White Horse” and “Coney Island” in front of enthusiastic spectators at Accor Stadium while they were seated next to a flower-decorated piano. The vocalists were shown laughing warmly and leaning against one another as the video came to a conclusion.
After their duet, Swift was seen embracing Carpenter near the piano in a different picture that was featured in the carousel post.
Swift shocked fans on Friday night by inviting Carpenter to play alongside her on stage after revealing a new version of her upcoming album, The Tortured Poets Department, at the Sydney gig.
Swift spoke to her admirers while playing the piano in a video posted on X (previously Twitter): “Everyone enjoys options, you know. It’s good to have them. If you could look at the main screen, I wanted to show you something.”
She went on, “This is an alternate cover for The Tortured Poet’s Department,” to applause from the crowd. “There is an exclusive additional song on this record called “The Albatross,” and I can’t wait for you to hear it, which is why this edition is named “The Albatross.”
Carpenter was then called to the stage by Swift. “My wonderfully gifted, amazing, stunning, hilarious, brilliant opening act, Sabrina Carpenter,” she went on. She bravely gave up her show, which is, in my opinion, a crime against Sydney. And I’m going to carry her outside right now because I think it has to be fixed. Is that okay, Sydney?”
As Carpenter accompanied her, the audience erupted in cheers. Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce, as well as other singers and guests Katy Perry and Rita Ora, witnessed the performance from the VIP tent.
