Taylor Swift has hoped for a “Better Man” in the past, and she has now discovered one. The coach of Swift’s lover Travis Kelce claims that Swift has had nothing but good effects on the NFL team, making the tight end more content than before.
She had a great impact on the team, in fact. It wasn’t in a bad way. According to Page Six, Dave Merritt, the defensive backs coach for the Kansas City Chiefs, said on The Sports Shop Podcast With Reese & K-Mac, “Everyone was excited and Travis was happy.” He continued, “So when my player, a brother, is happy beside me, that helps me and that encourages me, and so Travis came in there a different man,” describing the overall boost Swift offered the squad by lifting Kelce’s spirits. She thus assisted us.
The Chiefs’ victory in the Las Vegas Super Bowl earlier this year allayed any worries that the focus on Swift might negatively impact their performance. “[Taylor Swift] won a Super Bowl in her first year in the NFL,” chuckled Merritt.
He also commented on the hotly contested amount of TV time allotted to the pop artist when she attended games. “There were a lot of individuals who didn’t like that she was being displayed on TV because, honestly? Now that you’re with Travis, you’re a member of our family,” he remarked. Consequently, you are our younger sister. You live among us as family.
This basically confirms what other Chiefs players have been saying—that they accept her. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes remembered in December that “you realize how cool of a person she was and she is,” when “[Kelce] started bringing Taylor around.” She was so first the subject of a few jokes here and there, but now she’s just a member of Chiefs Kingdom and the team.
