Kanye West has stated that Vultures 2 will not be made available on DSPs, claiming that streaming is a new form of piracy.
Videos of Kanye West engaging in a direct message exchange with the YEFANATICS fan page on Instagram surfaced online over the weekend. Reportedly, the Chicago rap legend discussed streaming in the message exchange.
“Discussed with the group the optimal method of releasing the upcoming album.” Streaming, as James Blake put it, devalues our music. “Albums are available for purchаse on Yeezy.com,” Kanye stated. “On Instagram, I have twenty million followers. A five percent purchаse rate of albums by my followers. One million albums have been sold. That is 300,000 more than the album that achieved the highest sales last year.
He further stated, “On Suρer Bowl Sunday, one million items were sold on Yeezy.com, so we know it is possible.” How do you feel about the album being sold exclusively digitally and not streamable?
The administrator of the YEFANATICS fan page informed the rapper in a separate post that a survey had been undertaken to ascertain whether or not Yeezy.com should host the forthcoming two installments of the Vultures series. The YEFANATICS CEO stated that the albums should be available for streaming, while 86% of respondents opposed having both albums sold on Ye’s website.
“However, it would be appreciated if our community would support the albums,” Ye responded. “Streaming is, in essence, piracy.”
Additionally, he mentioned that Vultures 2 would be available for purchаse on Yeezy.com for $20. He inquired whether the individual with whom he was conversing had been exposed to James Blake’s remarks regarding the detrimental impact of streaming platforms on the music industry.
Although its original delivery date was Friday, Vultures 2 was ultimately delayed. Ye and Ty Dolla Sign hosted a listening event for the album in Los Angeles, where they performed tracks featuring Young TҺug, Future, Offset, Playboi Carti, Kid Cudi, Lil Durk, Lil Wayne, and Don Toliver, among others.
