Y/Project has added Kanye West, Tyga, and Mia Khalifa to its roster of fresh faces.
The group of three is featured in the apparel line’s FW24 lookbook, which was released not long after Y/Project canceled its March 3 Paris Fashion Week presentation. Glenn Martens, the creative director, is commemorating his ten years with the company with this collection. The previously mentioned Paris exhibition was postponed in February because of “uncertain times,” suggesting a change in the landscape of luxury fashion.
Charli XCX, Irina Shayk, Frédérique Hazout, Glenn’s father Matthias Martens, and other celebrities are also featured in the lookbook and effectively model the structural pieces. The new FW24 collection features deconstructed items that are ready for the city and the runway, along with voluminous jeans, oversized autumn coats, and plaid flannels.
The cutting-edge line-up debuts almost a year after Pascal Conte-Jodra assumed the role of CEO, an announcement that was made public in November of last year.
“The brand effortlessly resonates with the global Generation Z audience under Glenn Martens’ influential vision, propelling us to the forefront of fashion’s evolution,” Conte-Jodra said in a statement, as reported by FashionUnited. “I look forward to taking Y/Project to new heights, where innovation, passion and a commitment to authenticity will define our path to success.”
Kanye West is not just a hip-hop music legend but also has strong ties to the fashion industry. Anybody who knows anything about rap and sneakers is aware of his numerous iterations of the Yeezy. He has been selling streetwear and avant-garde items on his own since he broke away from Nike and Adidas. Everything is offered on yeezy.com. Ye would have you believe Adidas is taking advantage of him, but he is still subject to criticism. The venerable rapper from Georgia had no choice but to fire him due to his antisemitic rants. That is precisely the reason why the collaboration between Kanye West and Y/Project has some followers so furious.
Additionally, Tyga and former adult film actress Mia Khalifa were made public by Our Generation Music as models for the Y/Project clothing line. To showcase their Fall and Winter collection, pop artist Charli XCX and model Irina Shayk are also included in the mix. Kanye is spotted sporting yet another type of facial shield. This time, though, it’s a bulky, black garment that resembles a puffer.
As we previously indicated, Y/Project is facing criticism from a sizable portion of the public for enlisting the inventor of VULTURES. Someone comments, “So we’re using terrorists who support antisemitism as the faces of campaigns now???” Anyone who purchases something from here ought to feel embarrassed about themselves.” Someone else states, “Saying u love jews but than collating with a famous antisemite is on another level, that boy Kanye going down the barrel”
