DJ Khaled, who recently discovered golf and is obsessed, graces Golf Digest’s current cover.
Khaled, wearing Drake’s Nike Nocta athleticwear, called the accolade a “dream come true” in the internet piece on Tuesday (May 23).
Grammy-winning Miami producer says “Let’s go golfing” in almost all of his Instagram postings during the day, expressing his love for the game, which has revived him musically.
“After golf, I walk into the studio with a clear mind,” he remarked. I got a lot of wonderful ideas for this new album while sitting on the golf course or wandering the fairway and pondering.
“Man, I got a dоpe idea,” I exclaim as I drive home from a terrific day of golf. I’ll lay it down in the studio.”
Khaled created a small golf course in his mansion’s backyard for his children to play, so he’s always practicing.
Even my kids fell in love, he said. We just finished building a golf course in our backyard, so they golf every day. They play with me on weekends. Though they take instruction, they’re natural.
“Some people are natural at it, but you can’t take it for granted. It must be perfect. At a young age, I know they’ll play golf. I’m not applying it. They inherently like golf.”
Khaled has made friends through golf, whether with Mark Wahlberg or John Daly.
“You know John Daly. We met in a secluded spot. He adds, ‘Khal, I got love for you, I’m a fan,’ yet he’s never seen me play golf. It’s a par 3,” he said of playing with the renegade golfer.
He tees my ball. I get advice from him. I accept it because he’s a legend and he taught me something I wasn’t doing, but I thought, ‘He has no idea this is about to go on the green.’
“When I Һit my 8-iron, it sounded great, looked right, and landed on the green. He glanced at me and said, ‘That was motherf—king good!’
DJ Khaled’s March Hugo Boss fashion show runway debut turned heads in addition to golf.
