Interest in Taylor Swift and Kim Kardashian’s rivalry has resurfaced with the publication of her book The Tortured Poets Department.
Just two hours after the release of her 11th studio album, TTPD: The Anthology, Swift, 34, shocked her fans on April 19 by releasing a double album. One tune in particular drew attention from fans and sparked rumors that it might be a reference to Kardashian, 43.
The lyrics of Swift’s song “thanK you aIMee,” which discuss bullying, together with the title’s capitalization of the first three letters (KIM), gave listeners the impression that the song was a jab at the creator of SKIMS.
Regarding Kardashian’s reaction to the song, a source tells PEOPLE, “She’s over it and thinks Taylor should move on.”
According to the insider, Kardashian “doesn’t get why [Swift] keeps harping on it.” “It feels like years have passed.”
Swift says, “I can’t forget the way you made me heal,” in the chorus of “thanK you aIMEe.” “All that time you were throwin’ punches, I was buildin’ somethin’ / And I can’t forgive the way you made me feel / Screamed ‘Aimee’ to the night sky, as the blооd was gushin’.”
Later, she sings a different chorus, saying, “It was all for nothing, all that time you were throwing punches / Our town appears minuscule from this vantage point. Screamed to the night sky, “Thank you, Aimee! The stars are amazing, and I’ll never forget how you helped me heal.”
Along with admitting, “I changed your nаme,” which fans took to meаn that the song was about her breakup with Kardashian, Swift also mentions deleting “any real defining clues” about who the song is about.
When Kardashian’s ex-husband Kanye West referenced Swift in his song “Famous,” rapping, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have /Why?,” the two’s spat was set off in 2016. I brought fаme to that . Swift later refuted West’s (46) assertion that she had approved of the song.
Swift said she was “never made aware of the actual lyric, ‘I made that famous,'” in a statement issued at the time by a spokesperson. Kardashian, 43, stood behind her ex-husband, as she subsequently revealed on Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
In an attempt to support her claims, Kardashian then made edited video of the conversation between Swift and West available. However, it was noteworthy that West omitted the line, “I made that famous,” from the call (the complete recording was later leaked).
During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live in 2019, Kardashian asserted that they had “all moved on” from their feud. However, in a rare interview, Swift seemed to refute any such reconciliation.
“It would be great if those who harass us would apologize,” she said to Elle, ostensibly alluding to the phone call that was secretly taped and later featured in West’s song. “But maybe all I’ll ever get is the satisfaction of knowing I could survive it, and thrive in spite of it.”
