Thanks to a new collaboration with Gap, Kanye West is finally making his YEEZY designs available to the general public.
With the YEEZY designer’s partnership with Gap, the brand’s designs, which usually sell for hundreds of dollars at retail and even more on resale sites, will be available for the first time at a reasonable price.
West, 43, posted an image of the Gap logo with the initials “YZY” added to it on Twitter to confirm the news. In all uppercase, he added, “YEEZY AND GAP FORM PARTNERSHIP #WESTDAYEVER.”
For the YEEZY designer, who grew up in Chicago and actually worked at a Gap shop as a teenager, the partnership is a full circle mome𝚗t. Anticipated to launch in early 2021, the YEEZY Gap collection will feature a variety of items for me𝚗, wоmen, and kids at Gap stores and online.
“Mark Breitbard, Global Head of Gap Brand, stated in a news statement, “We are thrilled to welcome Kanye back to the Gap family as a creative genius, building on the style and success of his YEEZY brand and together establishing a next-level retail partnership.”
The YEEZY design studio, led by West, will create the new collection, according to Gap, with the goal of providing modern, sophisticated fundame𝚗tals for me𝚗, wоmen, and children at reasonable price points. As of right now, the design process is only getting begun. After the collection debuts, West’s creative vision will also be implemented in Gap stores and online to provide customers with a full Yeezy experience.
Kim Kardashian West, the designer’s wife, complimented him on the collaboration shortly after the news was made and posted a heartfelt message on Twitter.
“This collaboration is Kanye’s dream come true since everybody who knows him understands how much the Gap and Yeezy meаn to him! I’m so happy for him. You will all adore what they have in store for you all! #WestDayEver, “said the author.
West first mentioned wanting to collaborate with Gap in a 2015 Style.com interview, and that dream is now a reality. “Being the chief creative director at Gap was one of my dreams,” he declared. I want to be the Gap’s Steve Jobs. I want complete creative authority over the Gap for Hedi Slimane.
