You finally got tickets for your favorite band or singer after months of waiting. From Coldplay’s catchy singalongs to Ed Sheeran’s intimate one-man performance, you’re anxious and nervous to see them live, but you know it will be the Best Day Ever. You thought nothing could ruin your celebration. Follow these concert suggestions for an amazing experience.
1. Be early. Be at the venue one hour early for standing or seated tickets. There will be lines, bag checks, and fans. If you arrive early, you can browse the items, eat, drink, use the restroom, and enjoy the ambiance. The last thing you want is to wait in line throughout the concert. Standing ticket holders should go earlier to secure their spot.
2. See the opening acts. They were chosen to play with the headliner for a reason. Lauv, who opened for Ed Sheeran, became famous. Opening for Coldplay in Singapore are Jasmine Sokko and Rriley.
3. Bring only basics. Bring your ID, phone, credit/debit cards, cash, and concert ticket. If you have a digital ticket, print it out just in case. Any bag large may be denied entry during security inspections. Check the concert organizers’ no-bring list.
4. Wear comfy shoes. Visiting the National Stadium at the Singapore Sports Hub will involve a lot of standing, walking, and jumping. Sneakers, loafers, and boots are advised. For foot protection, ladies in the standing pen should not wear open-toe sandals.
5. Stay hydrated. Too many people faint before and during concerts. Heat, stuffiness, and discomfort can occur. Remember to hydrate and eat before the concert.
6. Go together or make friends in line. Some claim a shared concert experience is the ideal way to see your favorite musician or band. More practically, they can watch your luggage or reserve your space if you need to leave the queue.
7. Be respectful to fans. Avoid pushing your way forward in the mosh pit. Your desire to join your “friend” there is not a lie. If someone is vocally or physically abusive, inform security. Otherwise, don’t be picky. We’re here for the music.
8. Protect your belongings. Put them in a crossbody purse or zip pocket because concertgoers often lose things. For phone security, use a wrist strap or chain.
9. Sometimes, put down your phone. We must photograph and film the concert. Don’t keep watching on a little screen. Put the phone aside and witness it for yourself—it’s occurring right now.
10. Take public transit. The roads will be congested, so public transportation is preferable for getting to and from the event. Stadium, Kallang, and Mounbatten MRT stations are walkable to the Singapore Sports Hub.
11. Have fun. Let your problems go and enjoy the entertainment.
