David Beckham has made waves with his purchase of a $20 million penthouse in Miami’s renowned One Thousand Museum tower, which comes complete with a rooftop helipad.
Beckham and his wife, Victoria, have just secured a full-floor, five-bedroom apartment in the newly opened 62-story skyscraper designed by the late Zaha Hadid.
With plans to spend more time in Florida, the couple acquired the sprawling 11,000-square-foot residence. David co-owns Inter Miami CF, Miami’s Major League Soccer team.
The exact floor where the Beckhams will reside in the landmark tower is not known, but their penthouse is among ten in the building, which houses 84 apartments, including one duplex penthouse, four townhouses, and 70 half-floor residences. Property prices range from $5.9 million to nearly $22 million.
The One Thousand Museum tower, located near downtown Miami, offers breathtaking views of the city skyline and Biscayne Bay. It was the first and last residential building designed by famed architect Zaha Hadid before her passing in March 2016 during its construction.
Standing at 705 feet tall, the tower, often called “Scorpion Tower” due to its striking exoskeleton design, was highlighted in the PBS documentary series Impossible Builds.
The Beckhams will enjoy an array of top-tier amenities, including a pool on the 61st floor, a two-story fitness and wellness center, a private beach club, and a multimedia theater for private screenings.
The building’s double-height Sky Lounge, with Hadid’s signature water drop-patterned interior walls, is catered by Mame Sow, a celebrated New York pastry chef who serves as the tower’s culinary director.
The Beckham family, including their four children, will also benefit from the building’s private rooftop helipad—Miami’s first in a residential tower—offering a discreet escape from the paparazzi.
Beckham Brands Limited, David Beckham’s partnership and licensing company, purchased the apartment, a deal that reportedly began in late 2016 and was finalized in March.
At a reported price of $20 million, the Beckhams paid a premium for their unit. By comparison, a similar one-story penthouse in the same building sold for $13.8 million in mid-March.
However, this extra investment is unlikely to faze the Beckhams, who also own a $36 million mansion in London’s Holland Park and a $7.5 million country home in the English Cotswolds, contributing to their estimated net worth of $900 million.
