A Look Inside Dr. Dre’s $20 Million Malibu Paradise on Prestigious Carbon Beach

Dr. Dre, the iconic rapper, producer, and entrepreneur behind Beats, is parting ways with his oceanfront vacation home in Malibu after more than 20 years. The 57-year-old Compton native has listed the luxurious Carbon Beach mansion, previously lived in by his ex-wife Nicole Young, for a cool $20 million.

Even if the property sells for less than the asking price, Dre will see a significant profit—he originally bought the home in 2000 for about $4.8 million. Over the past two decades, property values in Malibu have soared, and this particular residence, located on a nearly 7,000-square-foot lot on Carbon Beach, now sits in one of the most exclusive areas in the city.

The three-story house is described as a “contemporary beach estate” filled with luxury and elegance. Built in the early ’90s, it features floor-to-ceiling glass walls, allowing natural light to flood in and providing breathtaking ocean views. The front entrance opens to a foyer that leads to a vast great room, perfect for entertaining, with a dramatic stone fireplace and sliding glass doors that open onto a beachside balcony. Security features include gates, a courtyard-style entry, and an advanced security system.

Inside, the home boasts a kitchen equipped with high-end stainless appliances, a primary bedroom suite with a fireplace, sitting area, and private balcony, plus a closet that includes a sauna. Other amenities include an executive office, a recording studio, a large gym, and five additional guest bedrooms. The estate spans nearly 9,000 square feet, making it one of the larger homes on Carbon Beach.

This isn’t Dre’s first attempt to sell the Malibu property, which is just a short walk from Nobu Malibu and was previously occupied by Nicole Young during their divorce. About a decade ago, the home was briefly listed with a price tag between $11 million and $12.5 million.

After finalizing his divorce from Young in December—where he reportedly paid her a $100 million lump sum—Dre retained ownership of all their properties, including this Malibu mansion, two estates in Calabasas, and a $40 million Brentwood home he purchased from Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen. Forbes currently estimates Dre’s net worth at $400 million.
